Default Flashpoint: Russia resurgent

Both Moscow and Washington insist one Cold War was enough. But considering the chilly rhetorical winds blowing back and forth between the two capitals recently, it appears at least a passing cold front has descended on the relationship.

Default some reality check

.
there is a few things wrong in the article

It present Russia as reasserting itself because it now can afford too

The Russians believe, that they have been pushed to the point of their very survival ,
For them ,the missile crisis was the plain demonstration of the bad faith and double speak of the current administration ,

Their griefs are
the progression of NATO eastward ,
the full support given to the orange ,rose and tulip revolution ,
talk of integrating Ukraine and Georgia into NATO
the blocking of any meaningful negotiation for Russia accession to the WTO
The minor irritant of the jackson -van dick amendment
the unilateral withdrawing of the anti-ballistic missile treaty
the refusal of NATO of ratifying the revised CFE
the silence as to the treatment of russians in the baltic states
having collaborated in good faith in the war on terror , they were ignored or dismissed
the imposition of sanctions on two major weapons manufacturers on flimsy ground
the pronouncements of the vice president in Vilnius last year
the constant sympathies given to the international muslims militants in Chechnya
when they stopped supplying cheap gas to Ukraine who did not even pay its bills , the ukrainian simply stole the europeens share of gas , Russia was abused as the bad guy ?!

Above all the establishment of a string of X band radars over the north of russia from flyingdale ,UK ..globus 2 ,norway .. thule ,greenland ..clear air station , alaska and the latest proposal of location in the Czech republic was seen as a direct threat

it make a first strike option possible , considering the wretched state of russia nuclear arsenal ,
Putin tested this hypothesis by offering to share the Russian operated site of Gabala , it would have been perfect for monitoring Iran and useless for monitoring Russia
When the american negotiators demured , Putin had his answer ,his country was targeted for nuclear strike as part of a long strategy

That , as far as I can make out is the thinking in Russia , it must be pointed out that Putin only criticism in his country is for being too soft on the west

Russians are very proud and have a great fear of being attacked , they feel that friendship with the west is a mug's game
