Default Ask the corporals and captains

When former President George W. Bush unveiled his revised strategy for Iraq in January 2007, he adopted several proposals made by the Iraq Study Group (ISG) while discounting many others. For each of the 79 recommendations the ISG offered, there seemed to be twice as many external opinions about which course to take in the war.

Lt Col. Butler definitely makes some great points. I applaud his effort. However, if you are going to involve aviation into the tactical thinking then you need to include the Air Force and the Navy as they are providing the preponderance of fixed wing aviation.

I do recall making similar comments about how lower ranking officer's voices will go unheard by upper management.

Thank you to Lt. Col. Butler for a fine piece of writing that underscores the shameful contempt shown to those doing the fighting and (sadly) the dying. I continue to be resentful that those doing the heavy lifting are taken for granted to such an extent.
